This week was the last week of our Fairy Tales unit. On Monday, we read Jack and the Beanstalk and created a story map for it, identifying the characters, setting, problem, and solution. On Tuesday, we read a different version of Jack and the Beanstalk and compared it to the original. On Wednesday, we came to school late, but we still had time to read The Three Billy Goats Gruff. On Thursday, we read another version of The Three Billy Goats Gruff and the students helped me tell the story by saying the repeated phrases along with me. On Friday, we read a funny story called “The Three Silly Billies” which not only included the characters from The Three Billy Goats Gruff, but also Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack and the Beanstalk! We also made a graph that showed our favorite fairy tales and found out that the students had many different favorites! However, The Three Billy Goats Gruff won with 4 students who said it was their favorite. This fairy tale unit was so much fun! Next week, we will begin learning about dinosaurs!
