This week, we started learning about baby animals! On Monday, we started our new baby animal matching greeting at morning meeting. Half of the children have cards with adult animals, and the other half have cards with those animals’ babies. The children greet each other based on who has the match to their animal. We also read “Does a Kangaroo Have A Mother Too?” by Eric Carle to talk about the fact that all animals start out as babies. On Tuesday, we read “Lost in the Woods.” It is a fantasy story with real photographs of a baby fawn and other forest animals. On Wednesday, Ms. Rice was out sick, but Mr Matt and Ms Becka read “What’s in That Egg?” which introduces many different animals that are born from eggs. On Thursday, Mr Rob and Ms Kathleen (some of the previous preschool teachers in the district) came to visit and read us a very silly story! The older students loved seeing their old teacher again! On Friday, we had pajama day to celebrate the last day of school before April Break! We also had a special visit from the Murray family’s new baby goats! It was so much fun having three baby goats come to visit us, and it gave us some great hands-on knowledge about real baby animals! Later in the day, we worked together to make a chart with rules regarding how we will keep our baby chicks safe when they arrive after break. The students came up with most of the rules together and we all agreed to teach the rest of our friends about the safety rules when we come back to school. Next week, we will not be here because of April Break, but when we come back on the 22nd, there will be eggs in an incubator and lots of new, fun things for us to learn about! Have a great vacation!
